Dan Schmitt, MFA, President
Dan Schmitt is a Master's student at the University of Oregon in the Couples and Family Therapy program with an emphasis on substance use disorders and recovery. Dan has had a circuitous educational and career path studying art, education, and product design. Prior to going back to school to become a therapist, Dan worked as a potter, and taught at the University of Oregon, Lane Community College, the University of Oregon’s Crafts Center, and various courses through Lane Arts Council. Growing up, Dan developed a passion for swimming, competing both for high school and club teams. He rediscovered swimming as an adult through Emerald Aquatics and has been a part of their Masters program since 2002. In addition to being a swimmer, Dan was a swim coach for seven years; he worked as an assistant swim coach for Willamette High School, an age group coach for Emerald Aquatics, and a Masters coach for Emerald Aquatics. Over the years Dan has also been an active member of the triathlon/multi-sport, cycling, and running communities.
Amber Butler, Secretary
Amber Butler is an office manager at a local insurance company and a dedicated mother. As a parent of a child with special needs, she understands how important it is for specialized care to be provided, by a variety of sources, to children with exceptionalities. Amber has enjoyed using her free time to volunteer with multiple organizations, including SMART and the Special Olympics, where she has been an assistant swim coach in addition to holding various other roles. Amber is excited to help provide another resource to the community that will strengthen the physical and mental health of children and their families.
Marissa Lovell, MPH, Treasurer
Marissa Lovell is the Community Health Promotion Coordinator with Lane County Public Health’s Prevention Team. We are so lucky to have Marissa join our team and look forward to adding more information about her outstanding qualifications soon.
Kent McIntosh, PhD
Kent McIntosh, PhD, is the Philip H. Knight Chair of Special Education at the University of Oregon and Director of Educational and Community Supports, a research unit in the College of Education. His current research focuses on implementation and sustainability of school-based interventions, reducing racial discipline disparities, and integrated academic and behavior support. He is lead author of over 75 peer reviewed journal articles, presenter of over 50 keynote addresses, and principal or co-investigator of over $50 million in federal grant funding. He is Co-Director of the OSEP National Technical Assistance Center on PBIS and lead of the Center’s Equity Workgroup, as well as a founding member of the PBIS-SCP Canada Network and a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Positive Behavior Support.
Lindsay Glugatch, BCBA, M.S.
Lindsay is a doctoral student at the University of Oregon and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She is currently studying Special Education with an emphasis on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), developmental disabilities, and peer-mediated interventions for children. Lindsay has been working with children for over 10 years, starting as a basketball and volleyball coach, later as a camp counselor and teacher’s assistant, and currently as a behavior analyst. Lindsay is the program director at the HEDCO Autism Research and Training Center where she supervises undergraduate students in ABA and inclusive practices. Lindsay is passionate about bringing children of all backgrounds together through the power of sports to create happy and healthy lives.
Demond Hawkins
Demond Hawkins is the Provider Performance Specialist at Trillium Community Health Plan. We are so lucky to have Demond join our team and look forward to adding more information about his outstanding qualifications soon.
Sierra Alvernez, B.S.
Sierra Alvernezis a second-year law student at the University of Oregon School of Law. Sierra has always
had a passion for sports and understands that athletics have the power to bring communities
