Jerry Adams Aquatics Resilience Program (JAAR Program) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that teaches specialized, developmentally appropriate swim lessons to children with disabilities, children with mental illnesses, children in the foster care system, and the parents or guardians of youth in those groups. We provide healthy role models, and a consistent safe space with a safe sport, to build resiliency in children both in and out of the water.
Our team is committed to ending drownings, which are preventable tragedies. While teaching water-safety swim skills, we simultaneously strive to increase participants' mental fitness. JAAR Program believes that by focusing on both physical and mental health, we can equip children with the skills they need to face, and overcome, life's adversities.
At JAAR Program, we are aware that extracurricular activities are limited for neurodiverse children. We also know it can be hard to transition back to school from a psychiatric stay or “fit in” when your home life isn't stable. We want to provide a safe outlet for the people in need in our community. By teaching water-safety swim skills a
At JAAR Program, we are aware that extracurricular activities are limited for neurodiverse children. We also know it can be hard to transition back to school from a psychiatric stay or “fit in” when your home life isn't stable. We want to provide a safe outlet for the people in need in our community. By teaching water-safety swim skills and forming a team for those inspired by lessons, we will create a love of sport in the hearts of many while teaching hundreds of people necessary life skills.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your tax-deductible contributions enable us to provide free water-safety swim lessons to children with disabilities, mental illnesses, and those in foster care. Every $25 donation buys one swim lesson for a child in need. All JAAR participants are provided with competition-level equipment too.
Please help us prevent drownings and increase mental resiliency among neurodiverse youth in our community. You can make a custom donation via the 7 methods listed below.
Costs Associated with One JAAR Participant:
$25 pays for 1 water-safety swim lesson, $30 buys necessary equipment, $150 pays for half a session of private, specialized lessons, and a $300 donation buys all 12 private water-safety swim lessons.
Separately, $50 pays for new shared lesson equipment/toys.
